Configure an Export
The Component Exporter allows you to export all active components from your Atlassian Compass site. You can customize a column and list value separator and all the fields you’d like to include in the exported file.
Look at the Export Archived and Pending Components page if you need to include archived and pending components in your export.
Click on New Export to start a new export and open the preview:
The export customization dialog opens where you can configure your export:
Column separator: You define how the columns and column values are being separated in the resulting CSV file. This is typically a comma “,” or semicolon “;” but you can choose any other character.
List separator: You define how fields that contain multiple values (like labels) should be concatenated. By default, the export is using a double pipe “||”. This separator is also used by Atlassian Compass when you import components.
Fields: You define which fields you’d like to include in the exported CSV file. For each field, you can define the column name that appears in the head row of the CSV file.
If you want to add additional fields, just click the plus “+” button and a new field will be added below the row where you clicked the button. Then you can select which field you want to use and which column name it should take. Similarly, if you want to delete a field, just click the trash button and the current row disappears.
The configuration is saved automatically and you can click on “Preview” at any time. If you do so, the dialog disappears and you see a preview of 10 components based on the export configuration.
If you want to change the configuration again, just click on Customize and the dialog opens again.
Below the preview list, you can find the total number of components that will be exported:
If you’re happy with the preview, you can click on Export in the bottom right. This schedules an export job in our systems and your export is being processed. It might take a few seconds, depending on your configuration and how many components you have.
